Stonker of a rock album, the guy can sure play guitar. I think this is his best work, better than Double Live Gonzo which suffers from poor recording quality compared to this studio album. When I was in my teens this guy was allegedly the loudest artist on the circuit. I would imagine he put on a hell of a show. [First added to this chart: 04/16/2022]

I can't disagree with another comment made on here, Karen Carpenter had possibly the best female vocal voice ever recorded in popular music history. Her life was such a tradgety, in listening to superb work like this, it hard to understand the inner mental turmoil in her short life. 'Calling Occupants...' has to be one of the top three Carpenters tracks in my opinion. [First added to this chart: 10/25/2020]

This album followed the million selling 'Who Loves You' and was released in a changing musical climate. For that reason it probably wasn't received that well, notably Frankie Valli only shares lead vocals on some tracks with main vocals being delivered by Gerry Polci, Don Ciccone. The lead vocal on 'I Believe in You' is sung by Frankie Valli and it is the weakest vocal performance on the album. Despite this, all things being equal, I do like this album, it is an upbeat affair and much less sweet than their sixties disco era. [First added to this chart: 09/04/2021]

I never really know whether I want to take Meat Loaf seriously. I never liked the name Meat Loaf, possibly because when that disgusting dish appeared on the School lunch board, it confirmed the horrid smell wafting into the quadrangle while you were in the lunch queue! I then look at Meat Loaf and see a very unhealthy looking individual who reminds me of School Dinners! OK, having got that off my chest, the album is a classic, is bombastic and nodding towards Musical territory, in fact it should be made into a Musical. I have the CD and am umming and arring whether to get the vinyl. This album was actually one of the albums the School Music Department had in their collection, the first time I heard it was as a first year in Secondary School, it was played to the class to demonstrate 'a rock album'. As I am writing this I am thinking that I probably will get the vinyl because if I don't I will miss the opportunity and could regret it... [First added to this chart: 03/07/2021]

Love your notes. Just the right length and a nice mix of opinion and information
