After The Last Waltz, The Band got together again in 1983...but didn't release another studio album for 10 more years. Robbie Robertson was, of course, long gone, as was Richard Manuel, who had committed suicide in 1986. Garth Hudson, Levon Helm, and Rick Danko, along with their regular touring band and a slew of guests, released Jericho, a collection of mostly cover songs. Some are exceptional, and while much of the album is not anywhere near the past glories of the group, the high points are stirring.
"Remedy" is a powerful opener, and their reading of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" is great. "Too Soon Gone" is dedicated to Manuel, but "Country Boy" one-ups that...it's the last studio vocal recorded by him back in 1985, a year before his death. Positively chilling. After that, the album slowly sinks, but the tribute is moving, and the flashes of brilliance are worthwhile. The Band recorded two more albums before the death of Rick Danko in 1999, when they ended things for good. Jericho is not great, but it's a good document to show where they ended up, and fans of The Band will certainly enjoy it. [First added to this chart: 12/18/2012]
Produced By NEIL YOUNG, DAVID BRIGGS & TIM MULLIGAN
1. My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)
2. Thrasher
3. Ride My Llama
4. Pocahontas
5. Sail Away
6. Powderfinger
7. Welfare Mothers
8. Sedan Delivery
9. Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)
This is a strange album, even for Neil Young. Recorded mostly live in San Francisco, the audience noise was removed and overdubs were added. Two songs are not live..."Sail Away" was a leftover from the Comes A Time album, and "Pocahontas" had been recorded 4 years earlier. The album is half acoustic and half full Crazy Horse rock. The two studio tracks are excellent, bolstered by the vocals of Nicolette Larson. The version of "Powderfinger" is great, and Crazy Horse is in full smoldering form. Another classic from Neil, a must have.
A film was released along with the album, and later in the year, Live Rust, a concert album from the tour came out. Nobody rules quite like Neil Young, and this is just another great reason why. [First added to this chart: 12/18/2012]
Produced By ROBERT JOHN “MUTT” LANGE
1. Home Ain’t Where His Heart Is (Anymore)
2. Any Man Of Mine
3. Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under
4. (If You’re Not In It For Love) I’m Outta Here!
5. The Woman In Me (Needs The Man In You)

9. Raining On Our Love
10. Leaving Is The Only Way Out
11. No One Needs To Know
12. God Bless The Child
The lucrative musical and romantic partnership between Shania Twain and Robert “Mutt” Lange began here. Her country roots and love of rock music combined with his rock roots and love of country music to create a perfect storm of pop country that changed Nashville in many ways. Between the eight hit singles on The Woman In Me (her second album) and the fact that she is simply ridiculously gorgeous, plus the perfect timing of it all…this album was everywhere in 1995. The first five songs were all hits, mixing ballads and perky spunky upbeat material (complete with lots of Shania shouting “woo!”.) The second half cools down a bit, but this is still a massive hit record. The pair had really stumbled onto a winning combination, one that they would ride for as long as they could.
“Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” is pure pop country gold, and the perfect example of the winning formula that Twain and Lange had stumbled on to. The record is overall mostly country, with just enough rock influences to separate it from the rest of the pack. Twain sounds like she’s having a great time, and that’s pretty infectious. More than anything, though, The Woman In Me is a pop record and a new direction for country both at the same time, which is what makes it noteworthy. Shania’s bubbly enthusiasm wears a little thin, and things tend to get a little too clever lyrically, but there’s no denying that this album was a massive success for good reason…it’s simply loaded with hits. Twain and Lange found a format that really worked, and you can’t fault them for taking it for an extended spin. [First added to this chart: 01/11/2026]

My Overall Chart: 201-300 ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 6% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.5/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.5.

I enjoyed looking through this chart -- discovering a few bands I've missed along the way. Nice to see 5 Aussie/NZ artists listed (this includes Crowded House, of course). I even found about 5 of my top 100 in your top 201-300 - which I think is so cool.
Very Nice chart. Some great selections here
Good album rating some classics and some of the 2000s i give you 90 points because it is a good choice.
Daydream Nation was produced by Nick Sansano and Sonic Youth, not David Barbe.
Great that you keep on the good work and gradually I see some of my favorites coming up: Husker Du, Bandwagonesque: fantastic!
yesss theres some stuff on here that just doesn't get a presence on this website
Great praise for you!
Nice chart!
