You know it’s gonna be a good day when you wake up singing “Sing For Absolution” by Muse. One of the truly great bands of the 2000’s, Muse released an amazing trio of albums between 2001 and 2006. Origin Of Symmetry, Absolution, and Black Holes & Revelations are as strong a trio as anyone has released, and surely the most recent string of successful albums in a long time. Absolution, from 2003, is the pinnacle of that success. Blending the huge sound of progressive symphonic rock and electronic music with the big sound of Matthew Bellamy’s guitars, Absolution is an absolute wall of music.
Impressive…as Muse is a three piece band. They make the most of it, though. Bellamy writes large, spacious songs with plenty of room for big sound, and the rhythm section of Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard is as good as it gets. Not only that, but the songs are catchy as hell. “Stockholm Syndrome” was the lead single, but also excellent are “Hysteria”, “Sing For Absolution”, and “Time Is Running Out”. If there’s anything negative to say about Absolution, it’s that maybe Bellamy’s voice can be a bit off putting…but that’s easy to get past…and he does have a great range. Muse is an exciting band with a huge sound, and Absolution is the album I would recommend first. [First added to this chart: 11/20/2012]

My Overall Chart: 201-300 ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 6% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.5/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.5.

I enjoyed looking through this chart -- discovering a few bands I've missed along the way. Nice to see 5 Aussie/NZ artists listed (this includes Crowded House, of course). I even found about 5 of my top 100 in your top 201-300 - which I think is so cool.
Very Nice chart. Some great selections here
Good album rating some classics and some of the 2000s i give you 90 points because it is a good choice.
Daydream Nation was produced by Nick Sansano and Sonic Youth, not David Barbe.
Great that you keep on the good work and gradually I see some of my favorites coming up: Husker Du, Bandwagonesque: fantastic!
yesss theres some stuff on here that just doesn't get a presence on this website
Great praise for you!
Nice chart!
