Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.5/100, a mean average of 83.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.3.

This is a very good chart even with almost nothing in common with my own. There is unexpected variety – what I always look for in charts – and some quite interesting selections.

A few albums on your list remind me a little of Joe S. Harrington’s Top 100 Albums from 2001 to 2003, although your chart and Harrington’s posses merely thirteen common artists and nine common albums (‘Are You Experienced’, ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’, ‘Ramones’, ‘The Velvet Underground and Nico’, ‘Ace of Spades’, ‘The Clash’, ‘Machine Head’, ‘Killer’ and ‘Get Your Wings’). This is because both your chart and Harrington’s – which revolutionised my personal thinking about music criticism even if not in the ways Harrington intended – have a focus upon 1970s hard rock and metal that is at least relatively rare here. Although not a fan of those genres, I do without any grudge admit their critical importance to the basics of modern Western culture.

Very eclectic list, nicely done! I like that you included Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. They're two of my favorite blues artists, Muddy is my FAVORITE musician all-time, in any genre.

Great chart - one of the most interesting generalised top 100s I've seen, lots of albums I really relate to.

Good list man. Great to see so many by The Kinks and refreshing to see the Rocky Horror soundtrack. That's one that wouldn't have occurred to me straight away but I do have good memories of hearing it at a student party.
