My Old (2013) Top Albums by sethmadsen by RoundTheBend

This is how my chart stood in 2013. It was very from the gut and no concerted effort was made to rank according to what I really thought about each album. I am now in the process of creating a chart that is score based. The score will then determine the order and I wanted to hold on to this one to see which one I like better at the end of the project. If I end up hating my end results I can always refine this one (I mostly agree with this chart and just needs maybe 50 tweaks to it or so).

What my old prompt said:
Hot damn... after 20 gets tough for me. My own subjective opinion is getting in the way! I think I have decided to rate albums based on how much I like it. How much do I think the content makes a whole album, instead of a few good songs, and some filler. I got rid of the whole one album per artist thing. I realize this chart is heavy in one direction... but I didn't create it to compete, I created it because these are honestly the albums I like, and my favorite bands obviously are going to override other possibly critically or popularly acclaimed (especially on this site) albums... I don't care, these are the ones I like.

The man who started it all. Above anyone else, I attribute the birth of rock n roll to this man. His attitude and scream are repeated over and over. s album makes me feel more punk rock than any punk rock album. Little Richard was so in your face, but also had soul and quality music. For a 50s album to have so many solid songs... hard to come by. By far one of my favorite albums. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

The musicianship on this album is way past the average. The beat poet lyrics and beautiful arrangements are not comparable. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

This album introduced me to the beauty of Muse. Those awesome tones from the bass, those opera like beltings of the vocals, the beautiful and unmatched guitar and piano work, and great drum beats. Spectrum of sound between Sing for Absolution, Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrom, and Apocalypse please, is quite amazing. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

This marked when Coldplay grew up I think. I really liked how they played with the idea of mashing two songs into one- it was like these mini-songs that are similar to the end of Abbey Road. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

Hmmm... Hard to put this one in words. One of the best albums from a band of the 2000s. I would put this above any Arcade Fire album because I think this is more original- Arcade Fire is great, but reminds me more of a mix of older styles put together, whereas this is a fresh sound that doesn't suck. I wasn't a big fan of Thrice until I heard this album. When I did, I thought, there is hope for American rock in the 2000s. Also notable releases by the band are Major/Minor and The Alchemy index, which almost made this list instead because of its concept: The 4 classical elements of Fire/Water and Air/Earth. I fell in love with this album as soon as I heard it, just like all of Radiohead's albums (except for King of Limbs and Pablo Honey, they had to grow on me a bit). The difference being that when I was done listening to it 50 times over, it still feels like a first listen to me. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

This was a toss up between this and Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic. This won over because it features a more mature Chili Peppers. Plus it features more of their variety of music, instead of their earlier party music. Rightous and the Wicked, Suck My Kiss, Breaking the Girl, Power of Equality, and Under the Bridge are amazing works though. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

Probably the greatest collection of the whole Pumpkins mature sound. They only come out at night is a bit kitschy, but other than that amazing sound landscapes and songwriting. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2016]

I prefer this in some ways to your main Top 100. I love U2, Beatles, REM and Radiohead. Going To California is my favourite Led Zep song too. And I am also put off Rubber Soul because of Run For Your Life. It spoils the whole album for me. I don't like Lennon's misogyny. Overall a great chart all round.

I actually like this one more I think. Abbey Road and Kid A mostly did it

I think this list best represents the albums I naturally came to love and listened to the most, especially in my musically formative years.

I think this list is my creative side and my current list is my logical side - if they had a baby, it'd probably be a decent list.
