Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Tamthebam

I love all types of music it doesn't matter to me if the artist is considered "cool" or not. I've been collecting music for over 50 years and these are the albums I've listened to the most. I love to try and listen to everything an artist has recorded. I love music to enhance my moods I like albums that give an atmosphere/a theme, whether that is in Soul/ R n B, country, folk, jazz, indie, rock or "easy listening" or pop music. My favourite decade is the 70's. Its 2024 and I just realised that the majority of my chart is female ! This was not a conscious decision it just happened

A brilliant debut album from Judie Tzuke and still her best. The title track & Stay With Me 'Till Dawn along with the beautiful For You are the stand out tracks. All the songs were written by Judie & Mike Paxman her musical collaborator. Paul Buckmaster was responsible for the string arrangements on Bring The Rain & Stay With Me.... overall the album has a pop/rock feel with Tzukes strong vocals the highlight. This and her next two albums were released on Elton John's Rocket label. She also toured with him on his 1981 north american tour. [First added to this chart: 06/26/2020]

An amazing album so far ahead of its time. The instrumentals on Side 1 which open & close Side 1 are brilliant and there is Sound & Vision & Be My Wife I don't think Side 2 on low is as good as "side 2" on heroes and that pulls the albums overall score down but it is still in my Top 100.

Pigs, Dogs, Sheep & more pigs ........... a brilliant album especially the track Dogs this is one of my favourite Floyd album it hasn't aged as much as say some of their early albums from the sixties. It seamlessly runs one track into another and is best listened to as a whole. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2023]

Rickie Lee Jones 3rd studio album is one of her best. Gravity, It Must Be Love and Runaround are all brilliant songs , the final tracks are a mini suite - Rorschachs/Theme For The Pope - The Unsigned Painting/The Weird Beast and is a haunting end to the album. An atmospheric album expands upon the sounds created on Debut and takes it further, more electronic sounding and as a result creates a different atmosphere, which is just as rewarding. My favourite tracks are Army Of Me, I Miss You, Isobel & Enjoy. My 4th Bjork album in my Top 100. [First added to this chart: 03/30/2016]

This is regarded as one of Joni's best albums. My favourite Joni album is Hejira. Court & Spark is my 2nd best Joni album. It is full of great songs the first 3 tracks being an example of Joni at her best. Overall the album has a jazzy feel to it which she would further explore in her next 3 albums before releasing Mingus a full jazz album. [First added to this chart: 07/27/2012]

So sublime you really feel the pain he must have been going thru an emotional time when he recorded this. The atmosphere is sad and sombre like being at a wake. Years after this album was recorded he lost his son and recorded Skeleton Tree. [First added to this chart: 01/29/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 17% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.4/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Seems like a good list to explore when I want to find some new R&B artists and albums. And I too love Stevie Wonder.

Great chart! Love how high you rated David Bowie's "Outside" it's so good! Also fantastic seeing REMs album "Up" it's so underrated. Also multiple Bjork is a plus. Found your chart through Erykah Badu's album "Baduizm" really dig her, really like "Worldwide Underground"
