Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Tamthebam

I love all types of music it doesn't matter to me if the artist is considered "cool" or not. I've been collecting music for over 50 years and these are the albums I've listened to the most. I love to try and listen to everything an artist has recorded. I love music to enhance my moods I like albums that give an atmosphere/a theme, whether that is in Soul/ R n B, country, folk, jazz, indie, rock or "easy listening" or pop music. My favourite decade is the 70's. Its 2024 and I just realised that the majority of my chart is female ! This was not a conscious decision it just happened

The best album released in 1980 was appropriately by Bowie the most prolific artist of the 70's. The first 6 tracks are brilliant and then the album tails off, Kingdom Come is the low point and It's No Game Pt.2 is not a patch on Pt.1. Overall though it is a great album and would be the end of Bowie's run of diverse and relevant albums until Outside in 1995. [First added to this chart: 12/25/2014]

One of her best albums ...... the slow songs at the end make this a great album. The songs between and including Again - Sweet Dreams could make a great E.P. Other stand out tracks are That's The Way Love Goes ... If, Throb & New Agenda. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

The 2nd proper album from Ms. Armatrading is an improvement on Whatevers for Us. This is mostly an acoustic album with some piano driven tracks the stand out tracks being Dryland, Cool Blue, Travelled So Far, Come When You Need Me & So Good. Overall a good album but better albums were to follow. [First added to this chart: 12/12/2022]

I've grown to love this album above all the other Rod Stewart albums. Every Picture & Never a Dull Moment are also right up there but somehow this album just tops everything he has ever done. Hot Legs & You're Insane start the album at an amazing pace then the first ballad You're In My Heart slows it down only for it to pick up again and then slows right down for the last three tracks every one of which is 90/100. His cover of You Keep Me Hangin' On at 8 mins long takes the song somewhere else entirely. [First added to this chart: 06/11/2016]

This for me is Blurs best album. Contains a more experimental sound (c/o W. Orbit) a good listen from start to finish. Lyrically it is much darker and musically experimental than anything they had done before. [First added to this chart: 08/02/2012]

A great solo debut album from Ryan Adams after 2 albums with Whiskeytown. Heartbreaker is looser and more intimate than those with Whiskeytown, an overall feel of sadness prevails but not in a depressing way Gillian Welch Dave Rawlings are present on most tracks & Emmylou Harris adds backing vocals on Oh My Sweet Carolina . Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 14% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.5/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Seems like a good list to explore when I want to find some new R&B artists and albums. And I too love Stevie Wonder.

Great chart! Love how high you rated David Bowie's "Outside" it's so good! Also fantastic seeing REMs album "Up" it's so underrated. Also multiple Bjork is a plus. Found your chart through Erykah Badu's album "Baduizm" really dig her, really like "Worldwide Underground"
