Ah, Lovedrive. One of my favorite album covers as a kid. It's like a Garbage Pail Kid masterpiece. I have mixed feelings on this one. It's easily some of the best AOR metal of 1979, BUT it's also madly inconsistent.( Just check out the Lynyrd Skynyrd inspired "Always Somewhere" or reggae-inflected "Is There Anybody There?") They were still trying to find their footing (& identity) after the departure of Uli Jon Roth. An identity they would find and perfect with Animal Magnetism just one short year later. This would also make my Top Fifteen of 1979.
