The music is rich and feels grand and there is so much to explore that it takes so many listens before you finally digest it all fully. Instrumentally, it is extremely diverse and there are so many to look out for that it is difficult to spot them all. Some of the better performances, even though all performances are amazing, are from the guitar, percussion, piano and sax. All of these are exceptional and some of the solos we are treated to are phenomenal. The record also has a brilliant concept of these three friends growing up and living vastly different lives. This is extremely enjoyable to explore and the lyrics used to weave this story are very well chosen to fit the style of music. The vocal delivery is outstanding as well and his ability to be smooth but quickly change to a powerful tone is very effective. Overall, this is an elite album from a group that deserves a lot more praise as they are extremely consistent at producing high quality music. "[+]Reply

Tim Maia was well known for his many issues with drugs, alcohol and obesity tempered by his light hearted, easygoing and unreliable but likeable personality. After hitting the bottom, he thought that he found salvation in a book called "Universe in Disenchantment", which basically prompted people to join the "Racional" cult sect which offered a happy life just by reading the book and joining the sect. As in every good sect, aliens and UFO´s were involved. The philosophy of the album is totally funny, but of course it was take seriously at that moment by Tim Maia, as the whole album basically promotes "Racional" philosophy. Needles to say, Tim Maia broke up with the sect not too long after and in a couple of years he died of a heart attack provoked by his life of excess. The album though, is very, very good!"[+]Reply
"A fantastic album. It's challenging, intelligent and unknown by most music fans. Mr. Van Zandt was a gifted songwriter that deserves to be heard."Reply

The early fusion appeared like bands like Smash in the very early 70s, but was people like Triana who push this fusion into the charts. In 1975 with this historic record they created a unique album that succeeded joining a symphonism betwee Crimson and ELP with the flamenco feeling. They were the Andalusian Rock band with a most important presence and personality. In 1983 Jesús de la Rosa, keyboards, voice and leader of the band died in a car accident and they became a legend. As with its predecessor, Brian Wilson's musical contribution is limited, but fortunately the other two Wilson brothers shine with strong songwriting and great vocals. Dennis Wilson had previously shown great songwriting skills on tracks like "Forever" and "Cuddle Up". On this album he contributes with the original "Steamboat" and the beautiful melodic "Only With You".
For each new Beach Boys album Carl Wilson comes clearer and clearer as the group's strongest vocalist. His performances on "Steamboat", "Only With You," "Funky Pretty" and not least his own "The Trader" are nothing less than convincing.
The three Calfornia Saga suite songs are all strong. Al Jardine's melodic Interlude beand one of the highlights on the album. Mike Love leads with "California" in the best way memories back to "California Girls"
Brian Wilson contributes music to the hit single "Sail On Sailor" and "Funky Pretty" - especially the former is an asset to the album.
Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin's "Leaving This Town" is a fine song which some may feel does not really have the right Beach Boys sound - could be a song that would fit for a James Taylor.
Nevertheless "Holland" is one of the band's strongest 1970s releases - unfortunately it would turn out to be the last truly great album from the Beach Boys."[+]Reply
"George Harrison's third best behind All Things Must Pass and Brainwashed. This album has some great balladry, excellent melodies and just shows what Harrison was all about."Reply

The musicianship is superb and the styles weave between rock, jazz, prog and the downright bizarre. I think this is the best of the Radio Gnome trilogy. 'You' is strong, but this is the most intersting listen imo. If I can, I want to get this and Flying Teapot on vinyl, currently I have Angels Egg on CD and You on vinyl. I love 'Flute Salad', 'Oily Way', 'Outer Temple', in fact I love it all except 'Prostitute Poem'."[+]Reply
"Excellent live album. Better than any compilation as the tracks on here are all classic AC/DC. Don't like the cover image but the message is clear, 'if you want blood, you've got it'."Reply
