"This is a very unique album. The musicianship is superb and the styles weave between rock, jazz, prog and the downright bizarre. I think this is the best of the Radio Gnome trilogy. 'You' is strong, but this is the most intersting listen imo. If I can, I want to get this and Flying Teapot on viny..." [+] Reply
"George Harrison's third best behind All Things Must Pass and Brainwashed. This album has some great balladry, excellent melodies and just shows what Harrison was all about." Reply

"I struggle to warm to this one - it feels like they're trying to repeat Thick As A Brick, but don't quite make the mark. It has its flashes, but I don't return to this one as often. The last of their prog-heavy records before they momentarily became poppier, before exploring English folk influences." Reply

"IMO, this is the greatest hard rock debut album of all time. There is not a single bad track on the album; absolutely no filler. Ronnie Montrose is extremely under-rated as a guitar player. It angers me that this album is virtually forgotten by most people when discussing debut albums." Reply
"Strong album with an absolute stunner opener. The middle section gets a bit repetitive which keeps it from getting the really high scores." Reply

"Essential listening in the "Mott the Hoople" catalogue, and one of the great albums of the seventies. Stand out tracks are "All the Way from Memphis," "Hymn for the Dudes," and "I wish I were Your Mother," however there isn't a weak song on the entire album. Although Mott's LPs "All the Young Dud..." "Will never forget the first time I put this on the turntable with volume cranked up high. Breaking glass. More glass breaking, Suddenly the breaking glass becomes rhythmic percussion, the exotic instrumentation eases in, and the madness begins. Bravo! Most people (especially those who didn't live..." "An all time classic, as well as the beginning of the so-called "Ditch Trilogy" along with On The Beach, and Tonight's The Night, which are classics also. All are HIGHLY recommended." Reply
