"Given the time, and the fact that she kept busy with various appearances on other people's albums, I was beginning to wonder if she'd ever put out another of her own. What she's finally given us is an incredibly sparse and quiet record. Long-time partner David Rawlings really shines on this one, ..."  [+]  Reply

"Beyonce's follow-up to Renaissance has been characterized as Queen Bey's "country album." Not outside the realm of possibility as she's flirted with it on early records--not to mention she's from Texas; Beynoce is for sure familiar with country. Though she typically dabbles in contemporary trends..."  [+]  Reply

"With Monk jazz changed for ever. This strange and dear bear was another world himself. Without any doubt, the best composer (alongside with Ellington) of history of jazz. Listen anywhere of his tunes: "Blue Monk", "Round About Midnight", "Epistrophy", "Crepuscule with Nellie", "Bemsha Swing", "Ru..."  [+]  Reply

"Brilliant first album by Foreigner. I think the later efforts possibly have greater highs but no album beats this one as all tracks are of a consistently high quality. Favourites are obviously the hits but also The Damage Is Done, Fool For You Anyway and I Need You."  Reply

"I've heard some people call this better than Band on the Run. Can't say I agree, but it is a damn good record that is a high point for Wings. Particularly the first 6-7 tracks are fab. And it's immaculately produced. There's a great article about Paul being a pop auteur, and I think I can get beh..."  [+]  Reply

"This is the sunniest collection from a master, and this album is also notable for the restraint he exercises here - no song is longer than four minutes. I love the opening of "Starting a New Life"...."when I hear that robin sing, well, I know it's coming on spring..." Later in the album he sings ..."  [+]  Reply

"Great artists, who did not always get along. It was reported Mingus left before the album was complete as it was agreed by all three artists to collaborate, however, Ellington tended to have things done his way to the displeasure of Mingus. Regardless, it sounds great, and one of the better playi..."  [+]  Reply
