"This album has good vocals, good music, good arrangements. However, it seems to be lacking a certain something. I have the nagging feeling I should be rating it higher than I do as it's a decent album but it sounds like it has to much of a commercial polish. A slightly rawer touch would of suited..."  [+]  Reply

"As shown in Elvis Costello's detailed notes to the album, it's genesis was unusual, with multiple complications . The songs were also written over several years, but all of this I will not go any further into, but concentrate on the actual final musical performance; In this case, the extended ver..."  [+]  Reply

"Wow! As soon as the needle drops into the groove, psychedelia fills the room. Harpsichord, organ, vibes, Mellotronesque flute drenched in reverb, psychedelic guitar, it's all here. And this is just the first track! Production is excellent on the vinyl re-issue. Recommended for lovers of psychedelia."  Reply

"I've always thought this was a very solid, if not spectacular, album. It is low-key, as subtle as the album cover artwork. Highpoints (IMHO) include the title track, "Spare Me A Little...", "Child Of Mine". I've had this one since the days of vinyl, and it still gets played."  Reply

"He's kind of an R&B Lorde. Sparse instrumentals, infectious melodies, lyrics come from a young place, husky delivery. He just doesn't have the same detail in his songwriting that Lorde does. He could also mix up his sound a bit more, a couple songs start to bleed together towards the back end."  Reply

"Grande is one of those generally popular artists that I innately hated. Their huge popularity and commercial success smothered my own artistic appreciation. This is her latest and, for my taste at least, finest release. The musical ride is still gentle but greatly enjoyable. She just gets better ..."  [+]  Reply
