For an album released in 2013 it feels like its looking back rather than forward. But its more than just pleasant. These songs kinda creep up on you. The production and playing sounds great on the LP.
It took me awhile to get into Kurt Vile's music, but I am sooo glad I finally did. This is my favorite of his albums, mostly because the sensational 10 minute bookends. Other highlights are Girl Called Alex, Never Run Away, and Pure Pain.
I usually love this genre of hazy, burnt-out folk rock, but I have yet to really get into it. If only it was shorter...

Another mellow album of pleasantness from Kurt Vile.
Love to see ambition like this from Kurt. Smoke Ring For My Halo had some great tracks, but he really swung for the fences on this effort.
At first I didn't like Kurt Vile because I thought he sounded too dry. But I kind of dug this album. At least track to track it's consistent at what it's trying to do. It's not an album I could love, but it's not bad compared to most.
