I once hoped that this was going to be the decade that rock and roll made a huge comeback, cycling in sync with other odd numbered decades, the '70's and '90's. Instead, it's settled into a decade that is indeed very much varied -- great in its own right -- in which my own musical life has continued to evolve and change.

An entirely pleasant mashup of moods, vibes and sounds. Sonically strange yet so satisfying. A sound for the decade, and for the ages. The hits are great on their own, but as a beautiful whole? Wow.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I know exactly what you mean about this decade. Very early days. I don't even own 100 albums from the current decade yet (98 & counting) so everything I own is in my chart. You've got a really nice chart here though & your comments have given me some ideas of albums I might invest in.

I'd agree - the decade is still figuring itself out... I like what you've got so far.
One change - How I Got Over is stronger than Undun. Both still Roots albums, but How I Got Over is their best in years.
