Indeed a very odysseyan album for Bee Gees. Surprisingly grandiose and ambitious, it isn't far from being a British Opera with Beatlesque melodies often teaming up with a big orchestra.

A Christmas gift for you from Phil Spector. That's exactly what it is! A thunderous collection of Christmas standards with Phil Spector's overwhelming wall of sound treatment. The girl vocalists add a cuteness to the holiday classics and the arrangements while certainly not understated are splendid and magically layered. A great collection to knock you into the Christmas spirit!

The banana album which quite possibly possesses the most iconic album cover ever! Truly underground music and totally un-hippie, there's no naive optimism, no "all you need is love" and "give peace a chance", no fluffy flower power orchestration. The Velvet Underground were realistic, drugged out and avant-garde while also glancing at the more accessible and pop-oriented side of rock music.

Not the first, but the second compared to "Bee Gees' 1st" which wasn't the first in the first place. Another good Beatlesque round of Bee Gees. The ballads which fill the most of the album are slower and bigger this time!

Plenty of good ideas here. From delightful pop melodies to pompous orchestration... Bee Gees do what Bee Gees are known for, the Bee Gees of the 1960s, that is.

Bee Gees' 1st international album. As you might've expected, this is quite some time before their big disco era. Instead they follow the psychedelic trend with melodies and twists very close to those of The Beatles.

Ouch, that comment of mine looks truly horrible, especially now that the guy who wrote the comment to which I replied has deleted it/doesn't exist anymore. However, it's still the case I won't make the chart more entertaining, unless of course it happens naturally!

..oh god, I´m afraid I want to be entertained ("with diversity and knowledge about lesser known artists").

This chart's sole purpose is to cover my favourite albums of the decade, not to entertain with diversity and knowledge about lesser known artists. 5 out of 5 Beatles albums in the top 5 shouldn't be considered excessive as long as it's my honest opinion, which it is. Believe me, I've listened to loads of 1960s albums and nearly none of them excite me half as much as the represented Beatles albums in the top 5. That being said, there ARE overrepresented artists in this chart, but mostly because I've decided to only include albums I know well. The number of each artist should be naturally lowered once I've learned to know various 1960s albums well enough.
