I can't overstate the importance of this album to me; it hasn't helped me through a rough time or anything like that, it just struck a chord that never stopped resonating. The first album I ever loved and hopefully the last.

I first listened to this album when I was 15 and from that day decided that the British make the best music. Period. I wasn't entirely right, of course, but for a time this album was a sort of point of reference; if a band was described as sounding like The Stone Roses, I probably liked them.

By the time I got around to listening to this album, I had been on a self-imposed Beck binge for months and was beginning to wonder if I would ever tire of his music. From the beginning chords of "The Golden Age" I was hooked. Here was this man, who I only knew to be an upbeat jokester, recording the sounds of the world catching up with him.

I fell in love with The Smashing Pumpkins in a big way. I went through multiple phases in their music, but something always drew me back to this gem. The layers of guitar are enough to make my eardrums melt every time.

I used to hate Jeff Buckley. I rejected him based purely on the hype (if that's not elitism then I don't know what is) and boy, was I missing out. My sister likes to frequently remind me of this misstep, and to make up for it I've been listening to this album on a regular basis ever since I heard "Mojo Pin" for the first time.

My, my, what a depressing album. Seems to be a recurring theme here doesn't it? For me, this is the one album where E got it absolutely right. It somehow reminds me of a childhood that's not my own, and thank god for that.

I had to put this album in out of principle; with that many songs, how could you go wrong? Admittedly, I don't like every single song, but if we're basing this only on volume this would be a clear number one.

The best thing about this album is how it makes sense as both an album and as a collection of potential singles. Only the Moody Blues could execute such a simple concept in this grandiose way and come off better than before.

Wow. Just wow. This is just an amazing album. It's what I think of when the words "psych-folk" come to mind. If I could make one album, I'd want it to sound like this.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.9/100, a mean average of 84.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 12.5.

Pretty varied, and it's nice to see a bunch of Beck so high (and they're my favorite Beck albums). Nice chart overall.
