This will take some time. I am very new here and the only thing I am certain of is that, in my opinion, the Velvet Underground and Nico is the greatest album of all time.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 80.7/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.5.

Really cool chart, I like a lot of these picks
there are many fine records on your list that are probably not worthy of Top 50 status, but i can abide most of them. what i cannot get with is Metallica and, especially, Ozzy, neither of which belong in any Top 500 or Top Anything, for that matter. i offer that not as opinion but instead as incontrovertible fact
Like the Sinead o'connor album, really underrated. almost made my top 50
A great start! Looking forward to seeing what other albums you add as you expand the list..
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR NUMBER 1 CHOICE, WILL CHECK BACK WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR CHART..
