I came around to more Prog Rock via Pink Floyd and then King Crimson, and like any genre of music there is good and bad to discover, and to my surprise I found the good to include Rush, Yes and early Genesis. All three I would've turned my noise up to 20 years ago, maybe it's an age thing...

Here we have Rush's best album for me, the 20 minute title track is very interesting and seems to pass quite quickly, I don't hear anything wrong with Geddy Lee's vocals which seem to put some off. The album does perhaps fade somewhat towards the end but there is still enough quality here by far.

Possibly the best place to start for anyone curious, this is probably the most consistant album by Rush, it includes Tom Sawyer which is a regular on the radio. Although I would prefer Limelight which has a very subtle riff and powers along very nicely. [First added to this chart: 05/12/2016]

Just the four tracks here, firstly Cygnus X-1: Book II follows on from the final track on A Farewell To Kings, it is suitably epic. Circumstances is ok but possibly the weakest track here while The Trees is excellent and one of my faves. Finally we have the 9 minute instrumental La Villa Strangiato, not being a fan of instrumentals in general, I do have to confess that this is pretty good and well worth a listen. As consistent as any other Rush album really, although it may not hit the heights of 2112 or Moving Pictures. The first three tracks take some beating, but like with 2112 and Permanent Waves tracks 4 and 5 are the weakest here. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2016]

After 2112 and Moving Pictures, it's a tough call between this one, Hemispheres and A Farewell To Kings really, but as The Spirit Of Radio kicks off proceedings here it certainly throws the first punch. The Spirit Of Radio is pretty much irresistible and is the Rush track you will hear most often on the radio. The album doesn't tail off too much with such tracks as Natural Science, Jacob's Ladder and Freewill. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2016]
