You can feel the heartbreak, anger, and love for their lost friend seeping off of every track. In interviews where David Gilmour said that the guitar sounds on shine on you crazy diamond were actually the sounds of Sid, I can believe it. Said track covers so many feelings without actually having to say hardly anything and just letting the sounds describe how these guys felt in their hearts. Then the songs with more lyrics are so poignant and descriptive once again without being obvious. Welcome to the machine sets the stage for Syd's downfall where Have a Cigar shows the real process of the record companies breaking your humanity. Then of course the love letter that is the title track speaks entirely for itself. The band's magnum opus, easily just because of the passion on each track and the subjects they were tackling.

Similarly to Wish You Were Here, you can feel the passion on this album so strong. Of course the main difference is that they are talking about their feelings on the subject of George Orwell's Animal Farm as opposed to the more personal feelings towards the life of their good friend Syd. I prefer the more personal album but this is still so top-notch. This group shines in being able to make you feel a very specific emotion without actually telling you anything. Just going into the album knowing the plot of the book it's evident that this is a perfect companion piece.

Dark Side Of The Moon seems to be a summary of life itself starting with birth, then going through existential topics of worry such as Time, Money, death (the great gig in the sky) and eventually acceptance of the way things are. It does feel less like a passionate piece trying to show people the error of their ways or warn them of things to come like my favorite Floyd records. Dark Side is more of a celebration of life and the many troubles that we all face in it.

Okay from my statements on the first three records this one makes no sense in being here. It's hardly saying anything large or grandiose, but that's why I love it. It just kind of exists and I find comfort in that. Also one of my favorite songs ever is on this album ( wot's uh the deal) so that might also have something to do with it.

Definitely feels like Dark Side light. Just laying the groundwork for greatness which is definitely a good thing. Glad this one exists but they improved on it in every regard afterward.

Once again, since I love Animals and Wish you Were here for their great statements of life I should love this album right? Well, those records worked because they had few tracks that each had concise points and things to say, so those albums start to finish are one clear statement that could be understood and loved. I have no clue what this album is trying to say or do at all. It's all over the place, it could've been cut in half and even then maybe would be a bit much. I do have to say it has some of the greatest Pink Floyd moments in Hey You, Mother, Comfortably Numb, and my personal favorite Goodbye Blue Sky. But so much of it feels aimless and unbelonging in the same album as it's fellow songs. Also it's getting pretty obvious that the band is not working together very well and Roger Waters was sort of one man showing this record with less cooperation from everyone else.
