With every passing day I grow to love what 2021 had to offer musically more and more. It was the year of spectacular female pop acts for sure. But I honestly felt like each end of my musical taste was substantially fed.

I still can't make up my mind about Billie. All of her projects have felt at war with themselves and this one is no exception, although maybe to a lesser extent. Her tough-girl attitude juxtaposes sincere, self-conscious moments throughout the record and I get that might be the whole point but I don't know it just feels jarring to me. That being said there are some really cool moments on here, especially int he opening tracks that really remind me of Mac Miller's Swimming just with it's raw emotion. And really most of the album keeps with a theme of anxiety from all the attention that she's received that could easily have come off as entitled but Billie puts her feelings in a way that doesn't make you view her as a celebrity begging for unwarranted pity. So these more personal heartfelt tracks usually land but then there's the edgy Billy. Oxytocin might be one of my least favorite Billie tracks and Therefore I Am is REALLY strong in the production department but lyrically it feels a little out of place on this album, especially being at the end. Really was wanting to finally get behind the hype but I'm not quite there yet
