Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.3/100, a mean average of 76.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

With some songs not on the studio albums, this is a fantastic compilation. It stands on it's own in greatness along side the other early albums. A fantastic early collection
Despite being a compilation that doesn't flow well, with songs from albums that work much better in the context of those albums, this is still one of my favourite Floyd albums.

While I prefer "The Early Singles" from the Shine On boxset, this is a fine introduction to early Pink Floyd for fans that have only explored Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall. Bad ass intro to the early psychedelic Syd Barrett led days.

Not sure if this should be classified as a compilation since 5 of the tracks are not available on other albums. Arnold Layne is one of the classic 60's tracks. Essential Pink Floyd album.
And having thought it never would happen! I have just purchased a brand new copy of this superb compilation complete with the textured cover. This album is like an oak aged port. Every year it gets older, it gets better! Some of Syd Barrett's best work is compiled here.
My vinyl copy of this album has seen a lot of spins and I wish I could replace with a mint copy. It is an interesting mix of tracks, particular favourites are Careful With That Axe, See Emily Play, Arnold Layne, Julia Dream and Remember a Day. This album is a brilliant compilation of the SB era Floyd. Such a shame it wasn't a double album including tracks like Matilda Mother.
Not bad for a compilation record. I actually prefer early "Floyd" to a lot of their later material. There are some key tracks missing. This should have been a double album.

Great combination of the 3 first ones, but there are some songs that needs to be in, as Astromine Domine

love to Syd

This is not fabulously exciting, but it is the only PF compilation with both Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, as well as a bunch of good unrealeased songs.
