Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.1/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.0.

Este álbum irregular de Simon estaba destinado a ser un disco con Garfunkel tras el memorable concierto en Central Park y la gira posterior. Por desgracia, la relación entre ambos no daba para más.

Hearts and bones, was a huge commercial disappointment for Paul Simon, and was mainly written during his breakup with Carrie Fisher. Hearts and bones, had a contemporary sound, and contained some of Simon's greatest songs. The title track, is one of these, a beautiful acoustic song, it is one of Simon's personal favourites. Rene and Georgette Magritte, is another excellent track, another beautiful melody. Allergies, is a good opener, and, train in the distance, is an underrated song. When numbers get serious, and, song about the moon, are two lesser known gems. Think too much(a&b), are okay, cars are cars, is easily the album's worst track, and, the late great Johnny ace, is alright, about the late singer, with a reference to the night John Lennon died. All in all, a good album, but with a few weak moments, Simon was obviously running out of inspiration, a tape of African sounds given to Simon during the recording of this album would change all that.

So very underrated, probably his best album close with Rhythm of The Saints, the songwriter is top drawer and it's probably his most interesting musically, total perfection.

Solid album. While not as good as his earlier work it still had strong songwriting. The title track was the highlight and the Late Great Johnny Ace was also a great song. "Cars Are Cars" was the one filler.

A really underrated album. The songs are brilliantly written. It is better than Graceland.

A bit of a slump before Graceland. By far, his silliest lyrics.
