@Yourself, hmm The Louvin Brothers are a pretty rare entity. They're one of the few old christian folk acts that doesn't sound cheesy. Have you also checked out their album Tragic Songs of Life?

In a lot of ways, The Byrds' "Sweetheart at the Rodeo" and Flying Burrito Brothers "The Guilded Palace of Sin & Burritos" were an attempt to capture the Louvin Brothers sound.

but for more of that original country folk, you may enjoy Roy Acuff or Bill Monroe

@Yourself Awesome. I'm pretty surprised you're unfamiliar with 16 Horsepower. Those guys were great.

I kinda through this together really fast, and then got lost in the question of what's folk, country, blues?

Definitely gonna check out Lofty Pillars. Wil Hendricks (bass) sounds familiar. It might be the guy from Califone that my brother trained with for a while.

Yeah. Rock Bottom definitely blurs a lot of lines, but I think there's a really strong link to folk in Wyatt's songwriting.

This list definitely starts off more traditional and then lets the boundaries of the genre blur. But I think much of the best music cannot be contained within a single genre. There's still a lot more traditional stuff I need to add, and there's a few I think could be removed.
