This is a work in progress, a subjective listing based on years of listening and spinning a few records. This is NOT exact science! (Joel, in case you read this.)
The ranking is not necessarily a perfect reflection of my opinion. Moods change, eh? Although I did not intentionally set out to do so, I note that 32% of my current picks have significant female content. Not that high, but more than most other lists. Fascinating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

Good chart, nice to see Laura Veirs', troubled by the fire, in there. The chart is certainly interesting, just a pity you didn't go for a top 100.

"Countdown.." was a huge album for me in the 70's. I can close my eyes and hear every one of those songs, start to finish. Your chart has music that's new to me, which is great. I like seeing local groups (local to you) which I wouldn't otherwise find, like Hammerbox. You list the Staple Singers and the Persuasions. Do you know the Fairfield Four? A friend of mine saw them in NY a few years ago, and make me buy "Standing in the Safety Zone," which is a freakishly good album.
