The record is so 60s, it hurts. Released in the middle of the decade, this collection of songs always struck me as Beatles at their best. They were moving towards more adventuress song-writing and this album perfectly captures that.

Just because it's Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. That's why! I loved the melodies and lyrics of all those songs, but found it to be a bit of a kind of narrow, fiddly sound. It wasn't as clearer sound, or as well defined as "Rubber Soul" but it was still great.

This comes in at number 31. Not sure why, as I'm sure it's better than that. I first heard this round Derek & Paula's house back in 1993. After several spliffs and cups of Mushroom tea, this album takes on a whole new dimension.

Sure, I'd heard all the singles that came from this album since what seemed like before I was born; but it's not until I heard the album in it's entirety that you realize why it's considered one of the greatest of all time.

This was Zappa's solo debut sort of. Compared to his Mothers Of Invention stuff and "Lumpy Gravy"; this was a coherent and accessible offering. It was well recorded and the tunes were lovely rock/Jazz compositions which captured the era beautifully.
