Simply put, some of the finest 35 minutes of music ever. Everything about it is mystically astounding. The sound of this record is always inviting on any form of media before even discussing the music. If Elvin ever sounded better highlighting the melodic pathways of each musician in the group I must not have heard the album. Everyone shines on this record but other than composer in chief Coltrane, Elvin is the real MVP here and performs some of the most stellar jazz drumming ever put to tape. This album is otherworldly. I remember buying this album along with Bringing It All Back Home at a bookstore in Lansing, MI. The total didn't cost me more than ten bucks, what an investment.

Dylan finally clicked with me around that time and I remember coming home, going to the basement, pressing play on this and *CRACK* goes that famous first snare drum whack. The one that changed Dylan's catalog and subsequently popular music forever. It began a ride with this record I couldn't believe. This album was so strong and very engaging all the way through. That's just what this work is every time. Dylan hasn't frequented my listening as much recently so maybe this one will climb higher one day, but I do love it.

Very close to my favorite Dylan record. I think Side 2 reaches biblical proportions of good songwriting/storytelling. [First added to this chart: 04/22/2017]

I can't deny its significance as the stand out moments of Rubber Soul are just that, out-fucking-standing. But never have I listened to this and thought it should rank among the top tier Beatles records. [First added to this chart: 04/21/2020]

A unique listen in the jazz canon. Listen with headphones, hair-raising stuff in some spots. [First added to this chart: 04/21/2020]
