Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Daydreamer Unknown

A rough prototype, there are many albums which would definitely be in my top 100 but I didn't know where to place them so I will be adding them as soon as I figure out where they should be.

Also I by no means think these albums are the greatest using some objective criteria, more like 100 best albums ever according to my tastes and opinions. Enjoy :)

What I love about Springsteen so much is that he is a man filled with so much passion and he pours it all into his music. Born To Run is the last album of his early romantic idealistic phase which would soon be replaced by hard realism. This is the album when it all came togheter for him, making one last great statement of youthful hope and resistance. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

A little piece of true magic recorded by Jeff Mangum. A concept album losely based on Anne Frank but also dealing with themes of family, relationships and reincarnation. Mangum's voice will soon become one of your favourites since it's incredibly passionate and his lyrics are on a Dylan level with some incredible surreal imagery. Incredible stuff. Released as a second album from his electric mid 60's trilogy this album finds Dylan at his most cynical, biting and agressive. Mike Bloomfield's guitar playing gives the music that hard edge and drive matching Dylan's scathing lyrics and delivery. Some of his most imaginative lyrical work can be found here. Dylan was never the one to expose himself, but he does it to an extent. Written during separation from his wife Sara, we know finally see intimate feelings of the great man behind the myth. He of course denies, but you don't know Dylan if you believe that. Here he is at his most desperate. Perhaps no other album is better described by its name than this one. Bob Dylan's epic double album, described by him as the one where he got closest to "thin mercury sound" he had in his head, is also where Dylan is the most free, imaginative and off the leash. The songs are full of colorfull surreal imagery and you get a feeling that the he could go on forever and never run out of things to say. Musically it is an improvement over Highway 61 as it has more soul influences and overall a gentler sound (harmonica isn't so piercing and guitars sound mellower) which make is probably his best album musically. However, his singing is at it's absolute wildest here and it will definitely be a bit too much for those not accustomed to his singing. But for those who are it will be an incredible treat. One of the biggest compliments I heard about this album is when I realised some of my friends were convinced this was a greatest hits compilation. The greatest debut of all time and really no other Pearl Jam album comes close (and this comes from a guy who really likes them). Eddie Vedder's voice is so full of passion and his lyricism honest and intricate. Also the sound here is very 70's classic rock influenced and has less of those punky songs they wrote on later albums. Highlight of the whole grunge era. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

A chaotic mess that is somehow very touching and beautiful. Tom Waits creates a crazy mix of blues, cabaret, piano balladry, rock and much more and combines it with his surreal lyrics and his incredibly distictive voice. Everything about his music is at its peak on this album, the true soundtrack of broken desperate people from the gutter. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

The release of this album was problematic since Bruce was involded in some legal battles following the success of Born To Run. Incidentally, the themes in this album are a big turn from the romanticism of of Born To Run. The songs are mostly more pesimistic and realistic, like the characters from Born To Run were now broken by the hard realities of life. The sound itself follows this change by being much more rock sounding a raw. Gone are the jazz influences from his first 3 album. As an optimist myself, I'll always prefer Born To Run but something about this album makes it seem much more real. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

A solid number of fans were dissapointed with this sophomore album because it was such a drastic change of style, but the americana and heartland rock infulenced proved to be a great match for The Killers. Themes and imagery are almost Springsteenian and they fit nicely with Flowers' nearly hysterical delivery (again a big change from the debut). One thing that hasn't changed, though, is their ability to write incredibly catchy melodies and big choruses. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.3/100, a mean average of 90.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.0.

The further towards 100 you go the more unique and interesting it gets IMO. Seems we have a lot in common, though I maybe skew a little more recent.

Good chart! Was nice seeing Innuendo and Bone Machine on here mixed in with tons of highly rated albums. Innuendo is easily one of Queens best and most underrated songs.
