Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Daydreamer Unknown

A rough prototype, there are many albums which would definitely be in my top 100 but I didn't know where to place them so I will be adding them as soon as I figure out where they should be.

Also I by no means think these albums are the greatest using some objective criteria, more like 100 best albums ever according to my tastes and opinions. Enjoy :)

Released as a second album from his electric mid 60's trilogy this album finds Dylan at his most cynical, biting and agressive. Mike Bloomfield's guitar playing gives the music that hard edge and drive matching Dylan's scathing lyrics and delivery. Some of his most imaginative lyrical work can be found here. The one where they cemented themselves as kings. Having already made one step towards seriousness with Rubber Soul, they took it one step further with this one. Their most psychedelic, trippy, LSD influenced records with some lovely eastern influences remains one of the more groundbreaking albums of all time. It's so much ahead of it's time it's not even funny. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Released before Let It Be but recorded after. That makes this truly the great swan song of the greatest band ever. More cohesive than any other Beatles album, Abbey Road also sees George Harrison writing probably the best songs on the album which makes it so special because you have 3 great songwriters in their prime. Doesn't get much better than this. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Bob Dylan's epic double album, described by him as the one where he got closest to "thin mercury sound" he had in his head, is also where Dylan is the most free, imaginative and off the leash. The songs are full of colorfull surreal imagery and you get a feeling that the he could go on forever and never run out of things to say. Musically it is an improvement over Highway 61 as it has more soul influences and overall a gentler sound (harmonica isn't so piercing and guitars sound mellower) which make is probably his best album musically. However, his singing is at it's absolute wildest here and it will definitely be a bit too much for those not accustomed to his singing. But for those who are it will be an incredible treat. If Revolver was the revolution in sound and songwriting, Sgt Pepper's was the revolution considering albums. How many albums felt as a whole entity other than just a collection of songs before this one? Not many. But when they released this one everyone wanted to make albums like this one. Other than massive historical importance, you can't deny the quality of the songs, with iconic Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds and A Day In The Life leading the pack. There is something otherwordly about this record. The instruments, arrangements, Van Morrison's vocals and stream of consciousness lyrics all make this ethereally beautiful and mystical. I can honestly say that there isn't an album remotely similar to this one, nothing creates quite the same atmosphere. Van Morrison never reaches these heights again but even if he hadn't done anything else, this one is more than enough to make him one of the greats. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

This might be a cheat since it's not a real album, but it's simply too good to ignore. Some of their finest songs are here, and that's saying a lot. Psychedelic Beatles are my favourite Beatles and here they are in their most colorful and flowery selves. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.4/100, a mean average of 90.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.9.

The further towards 100 you go the more unique and interesting it gets IMO. Seems we have a lot in common, though I maybe skew a little more recent.

Good chart! Was nice seeing Innuendo and Bone Machine on here mixed in with tons of highly rated albums. Innuendo is easily one of Queens best and most underrated songs.
