As the clock ticked over from 2017 to 2018, I was in the pit moshing to The Love Junkies.

A bit lacklustre for the first few songs (but I blame the rabid Foo Fighters fans), until Pork and Beans seemed to liven up the crowd and Weezer followed suit. Ended up a great set, and seeing as how Weezer have only been to Australia once before it was great to get seeing Weezer ticked off my bucket list. Highlight for me was Say It Ain't So with a crowd singalong, and for everyone else it seemed to be Beverly Hills.

Dave Grohl is such an incredible showman. Highlights were The Pretender, closing with Everlong, and Dave Grohl swapping to drums with Taylor Hawkins to vocals for a cover of Under Pressure. Oh and the way Dave dealt with a stage invader (saving his skin form the bouncers and then dismissing him with a friendly "get the fuck off my stage" was all class!

Wow!!! Terrible scheduling at Laneway Festival had Shame playing early in the day, on the smaller stage, at exactly the same time as the only other punk band on the bill, who were playing on the main stage and therefore drawing away many of Shame's potential audience. However....WOW!!! What an incredible show for those of us who did choose to watch Shame. Energetic showmanship from both the singer and the bassist (who put so much into his performance he ended the set collapsed on his back and could hardly walk off the stage), great interaction with the small but appreciative crowd, and tight musicianship belying their young age and one album only a month old. They were obviously having a ball up there on stage. Highlight of the set was closing with the a fantastic sounding version of Angie, during which Charlie ended up singing and walking around in amongst the crowd right up in our faces. Awesome stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed by all and the highlight of the festival for most of the day.

Really enjoyed this set. Great personality and unique style of singing.

To be honest slightly disappointing. I was really looking forward to this band (My Love Is Cool is my #7 album for 2015, and Visions Of A Life is my #25 for 2017) but they were a bit lifeless. Maybe they were hot and tired. It was the last show of a touring festival in the middle of summer. The couple of times near the end of the set where she did let her powerful voice belt out was very good though.

Fourth time seeing this band. As always top quality live performers that sound even better live than on record.

Highlight: This Modern Land and Blood making me excited for their new album which was still to come at that time.
