Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by VikaGatling

This chart is very personal. I do not fancy gathering some most influential or most important or whichever items to the list.

There is no "one album for artist" rule, because I really like those placed into my chart. Maybe later it will expand, so I have some place to put the new interesting things. Sorry for now.

Ptiza (Bird) by Auktyon is the best russian album of all times, and this band is one of very few russian groups, who can compete with non-russian music as equals. The band's music is a mix of avant-prog, jazz/fusion and folk motives. Complicated fast rhythms, big variety of instruments, genious lyrics. I'll put some translation (official, from the booklet) below to give an idea of what is it like.

Must-hear songs:
- 1. Bird / Ptiza
- 2. Road / Doroga
- 3. Eyes / Glaza
- 9. My Love / Moya Lubov
- 7. It Is Not Late / Escho Ne Pozdno

This song is OK as well:
- 5. Seventh / Sedmoy

"Domes on the left, domes on the right,
The kids were digging in a pit,
A little doggie in the night
Found a candy.
Why do You stare?
Nothing to share.
Why do You, son,
Give me a dare
For I am a birdie,
The birdie is fair...
Now I could feel the smell of fire
And I see the slowly falling crane.
The stars were spitting, and the buyer
Knew all the truth"
- Ptiza / Bird

"The moonlight paints on me with fear,
The gentle swan is coming near,
The evil blood, the evil dove
Bringing my spring from the sly above,
The place You like is always here.
The snowy horses she's been ridden
Are out at grass that's always hidden.
But she'll awake to tombling bell
And ride the dreams of dusty hell
Towards the place You think forbidden.
My love, oh my...
Trees in the sky now play with fire,
They lived a life and lost desire.
And weeping packs of hound dogs
Among the trees and ground fogs
Long for revenge that's always dire.
My love, oh my..."
- Moya Lubov / My Love

One more album of Auktyon, that deserves to be in the list. Complicated and full of madness, it is sometimes hard to listen to, but still very consistent. Unfortunately, without understanding of lyrics the listener will loose a half of Auktyon's fascination.

A must-hear song:
- 10. Winter / Zima

These songs are interesting as well:
- 2. Victory Day / Den' Pobedy
- 3. Left / Ushla
- 6. Fa-fa-fa
- 5. Elephant / Slon

Very cool list! We have a fair number in common, and others you include would be in my top 500. There are a couple I don't like, but everyone's tastes are different, and it's always interesting. I enjoy your commentaries as well!
