"I think the last couple of songs could have been better - but overall the first side was very solid the energy was kept up through most of side two. One of her best albums." Reply
"This is her best album of the 70's, her albums are full of great cover versions of country/rock songs. She makes each song her own It's So Easy, Blue Bayou, Poor,Poor Pitiful Me and Old Paint are good examples of that. The whole album is great nothing weakens it, her voice seems to be at its peak." "I like this record, it truly is a fusion of rock and jazz. Great guitar work, interesting melodies. Sounds a bit thin, would love to hear a remastered version of this. Some of the harmony can be a bit too root centered at times and there are not enough guitar bends, making the record sound stuck ..." [+] Reply
"Billy Joe Shaver wrote some damn fine songs, and Waylon delivers the goods singing them. Maybe not quite as important an album as people sometimes say it is, and Waylon probably gets too much credit for the outlaw movement in general, but still a great album." Reply

"A smoother and slicker Little Feat record, but that in turn loses the raw edge they had on previous albums. There's a jazz rock feel on same tracks, such as the beautiful, long distance love.
