Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.1/100, a mean average of 79.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.9.

Colin Blunstone sounds great , the band is tight and the inclusion of Zombies classics on top of one of the best albums ever makes this an absolutely essential live album

I don’t usually regard live albums this highly, but this is a terrific disc, especially the Odessey and Oracle half, which reunites one of my favorite bands performing one of my favorite albums 40 years later. They do an amazing job of reproducing all the nuances of the original record and, while it rarely strays from the script into improv, you don’t really want it to. Oracle was close to a perfect record and it would seem like heresy to tamper with it too much. “Hung Up on a Dream” and “Changes” are particular highlights, and the vintage church organ accompanying Chris White’s fragile voice makes “Butcher’s Tale” especially touching. Very moving to see and hear these guys playing together—and playing well—after all these years. If you like the album, pick up the DVD. The four surviving members aren’t currently playing together—only Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone—so this might be your only chance to see them. On songs 15-23, Argent and Blunstone use a different backing band similar to the one they’re presently touring with; White and drummer Hugh Grundy sit this part out. The sound is faithful to the Zombies, but the song choices could have been better. I would have preferred to hear Zombies originals like “Just Out of Reach,” “Smokey Day,” and especially “Indication.” But perhaps the point was to delineate the difference between the two bands and concentrate more on later solo material and covers. The Oracle songs make it a great record nonetheless.
