Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 93.6/100, a mean average of 92.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 12.8.

Big fan ever since they released "The Piper" in '67. Like The Beatles they continued to progress musically with each release, They set the bar for their progressive "big sound" style of music. Their music will continue to gain followers as the years go by. Pink Floyd will be remembered for one of the greatest most enduring acts of all time.

Yes, I have no doubt Pink Floyd is the best band ever, I've heard everything there is to hear about music in this world and I've never found anything comparable, it was in music where only Beethoven was. Suffice it to say, the structure of the songs are very simple which is a paradox with the fact that I listen to each album 1 million times and each time I listen I discover something new. It still happens today and this is something inexplicable that I don't find in anyone else

Surely one of the greatest bands of all time! From the early psychedelic madness of the Syd Barret days, to the peak of prog perfection in the 70s, to somewhat of a rebirth of their sounds in the Division Bell era, Pink Floyd has long remained one of the greatest artists ever.
