First Beastie Boys album with live instruments. Its innovative style is phenomenal and partying to this record seems delightful. [First added to this chart: 01/14/2014]

Best crossover record ever. Beck creates here beautiful mash-up of folk rock, country, hip hop and 90's alternative and it sounds delicious. [First added to this chart: 01/14/2014]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.1/100, a mean average of 87.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.6.

Fantastic chart! On the Beach and OK Computer are such great albums. I really like your inclusion of Check Your Head and Sweet Baby James in your top ten, as well. Your notes for your selections are thoughtful and interesting.

Very good music.
The chart focuses on the 60´s, 70´s songwriter with a little jazz and hip hop.

That´s OK, but I´d like to see some more surprises and "unknown, underrated" albums.
Do you really need 7 Springsteen and 8 Neil Young albums?
That makes the chart a little boring to read: Every new side with the same artists...
