Top 100 Music Albums of the 2000s by mrmcrook

The 2000's for music is quite a conundrum I find. There's some absolute gold but as a decade I found it didn't really excel.

I realize my chart has a lot of compilations and many people believe compilations shouldn't count. The reason I have included them is so I can add a few bands/artists that have fantastic music and should be recognized. Otherwise the list will be hugely dominated by a dozen bands that everyone knows has a huge number of worthy albums. Hence why the large amount of compilations and live albums.

Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

I was a late comer to symphonic metal. It's fantastic when done well and this album is the king of all symphonic metal I've heard..... so far. Smitten with this from the moment I first heard it. And just keeps getting better each time I listen too it. The metal riffs, rhythm & melodies. The outstanding gorgeous vocals. The orchestral arrangements. The accompanying choir. All put together to total perfection. This is the gold standard of symphonic metal [First added to this chart: 03/17/2021]

Absolutely love this. Only had Vitalogy before getting this. Since then I have acquired another 7 studio albums. Some of them are fantastic (Ten, V's) but I think most have to high a ratio of just average songs. Hence why I love this. Everyone's a winner baby, that's no lie. Love this. Brilliant debut. There are many contenders who try to blend melody, rhythm and flow perfectly. Many fail. They has perfected it. Victory to Kasabian. Great music doesn't date and this is still as dynamic as the day it came out. [First added to this chart: 10/07/2020]

Great collection. This highlights one of the most happy, upbeat catchy rock bands out there. Every track a gem. This was way way better than I ever imagined it to be. [First added to this chart: 10/07/2020]

Nothing different or special. Just an album loaded with top class stoner/metal tracks. No gimmicks. Less is more. A massively overlooked album. One of Monster Magnets better ones. Pretty much every track is killer with no slumps at all through the whole thing. Fucking brilliant and enjoyable. [First added to this chart: 11/18/2021]

Way, way better than I was expecting based on previous albums I'd heard from them. This has a great feel and flow right throughout. Best album from them in my opinion. This is one of those albums that are knocking on my top 100's door. [First added to this chart: 10/23/2021]

For a period of time within life, once a week on a Friday night, I was a stay at home one man party. Drink copious amounts of bourbon, and play loud music. This album was on high rotation for a long time. Specially 'Duality' & ' Vermilion'. My neighbors must of hated me. I would of been the nightmare bogan cunt next door. Long haired filth. Oh happy day. [First added to this chart: 10/07/2020]

Starts with a hiss and a roar with some of their best work. Dips a bit from midway but on saying that, they are still great songs well above par. I do find it a tad long though. Overall a fantastic selection of tracks. They'd matured massively as a band and with this and it shows. [First added to this chart: 10/07/2020]

Up tempo garage rock. Short sharp feel good tracks. What you expect from a Hives album. Another one of two tracks like 'Diabolic Scheme' would be good, as the change of pace gives the album a break from just having one speed and makes the tracks that follow it more enjoyable. Great album. I like it. [First added to this chart: 07/27/2023]
