100 artists, 100 albums released between the 1950s-2020s. I unashamedly love the music of American "hillbillies" playing rock music (the literal meaning of "rockabilly") but I also like singer-songwriter country-folk, power-pop, alternative rock and alternative R&B.
I include my ratings and my recommendations.
I hope you discover something here that you never dreamed you would enjoy!

At its best, 2000s emo gave post-hardcore a place in the mainstream. At its worst, it was whiny and putrid. Motion City Soundtrack is often overlooked, but they brought a nice tasteful balance of angst and melody that was rare to the scene. You could say they were closer to Weezer than emo and punk.

The sound of Cat Empire is distinctive. Perhaps it's simply pop rock that leans heavily on Latin and ska influences. Singer Felix Riebl carries the hits you can sing along to (Hello, Days Like These, The Chariot), but the real gems here are sung by Harry Angus (The Lost Song, The Wine Song).

Winehouse's masterpiece is unapologetically old-school soul, with a modern twist that hit the airwaves in a perfect time for a revival of sorts.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0.
