Excellent sophomore album. Strange Days doesn't do much different from the self-titled album. Sounds more or less the same. The tracks aren't quite as strong, but they're not far behind either. Everything else is pretty damn awesome.
My Top 3 Tracks:
1. When the Music's Over
2. Unhappy Girl
3. You're Lost Little Girl [First added to this chart: 06/23/2014]
I first listened to this album while I was taking a year off from college, so an ironic opening lyric of the opening song. The song wasn't describing my situation. But the title kinda was, and I immediately felt a connection to this album. I had heard the singles 'Jumper,' 'Graduate,' and 'Semi-Charmed Life' years earlier. But I suppose I didn't get into the album until later because I had labeled them too popish for my taste. Boy I was wrong. There's some fucked up shit behind the do-do-do, do-dodo-do of 'Semi-Charmed Life.' The song's about crystal meth and I never knew that until I got into the album. Anyway, I found beauty in almost every track on this album, especially Narcolepsy, Burning Man, and God of Wine. Some tracks are better than others but from start to finish, it's really wonderful. It's a shame Third Eye Blind couldn't deliver after this self-titled debut.
My Top 3 Tracks:
1. Losing A Whole Year
2. Semi-Charmed Life
3. London [First added to this chart: 06/23/2014]
My Top 3 Tracks:

2. Let Down
3. Subterranean Homesick Alien [First added to this chart: 06/23/2014]
I love this humble lyric. On their debut album, R.E.M. wasn't trying to be cool or fashionable, even though being music stars typically requires both. Great example of a band playing to their strengths, and letting fans discover them over time. If I'm not mistaken, R.E.M. didn't become a household name until their fifth album. I'm glad they eventually reached a wide audience. But their first album is their best.
My Top 3 Tracks:
1. Talk about the Passion
2. Radio Free Europe
3. Perfect Circle [First added to this chart: 08/10/2014]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 5% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.0/100, a mean average of 88.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.8.

Great list and love the included commentary!
Given your taste in music I’m surprise that there is no Hendrix in the start, or maybe I missed it. Despite that, great chart
Really dig the comments on this chart, and the selections.
The way you've constructed your chart now has made it all unique. One Hundred%
Wow, previously had 70/100 for this chart but that was far too harsh a score. The effort you've gone into making this chart is hugely commendable - well done! That said, despite your great variety when it comes to time periods, it's a shame that (as far as I can tell) not a single person of colour managed to make it into your picks (and nothing outside of English speaking countries!). I wonder if maybe you gave some jazz/hip hop/electronic releases a try you might be pleasantly surprised, only time will tell xx
Great chart, nice to see a guy who likes to keep in the rock realm. I hope that I can develop my chart to this point someday. I still have a long way to go.
very nice.... so glad to see i’m not the only one to remember how
awesome the cars were and are.
Like Who's Next in the top 10
Great chart, wow I just think about Billy Joel, he's legendary and popular musician in every country of this f*ckin world and so underrated...
I can't believe I haven't commented on your chart before! I thought I had. It makes excellent reading - your notes are warm, human and lively. I like your stories man. Its an honest chart too, just your favourite albums. No hipster posturing and I dig that. I haven't read it all yet but I will (its late). Definitely one of my favourite charts I've seen on BEA. It's right up there. Loving your work. Great to see someone else has the same 3 favourite Cure albums as me.
