His debut has never been bettered in my opinion. It's low key approach allows the songs to shine. Song For Adam and particularly My Opening Farewell are masterpieces. [First added to this chart: 08/06/2014]

I know no other album which displays such intense and personal vocals. "Laughing" holds the key to life for any questing soul. Crosby says more in 3 minutes than any religion. [First added to this chart: 08/06/2014]

On release this got little attention. The decision of the record company to release She's A Girl and I'm A Man was a mistake as its the worse track on the album. Side 1 which features orchestral strings is quite wonderful. With Margo's Waltz and There For Her Lloyd Cole composer 2 of his best songs - swooning masterpieces. This is one of the only albums I bought I'm my early teens that I still listen to today on a regular basis. Although, as with all Dolby releases, this is an eclectic mix there are some outstanding tracks especially the quite wonderful Screen Kiss. [First added to this chart: 08/06/2014]

Really appreciate such compilation of 70's California, especially Burritos, lots of the rare stuff and Jackson Browne in top 5

These are some of my favourite albums of all time which I listen to on a regular basis. I recall watching a tv show about classic albums and a well known rock star cited The Beatles Sargent Peppers as the best album ever recorded but then went on to say he hadn't listened to it for 20+ years. That to me is a contradiction. A classic album should be one you enjoy on a regular basis and not just recognised for its historic value. So here's a mixed bag - classics and little known records - all my favourites
