Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.1/100, a mean average of 87.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.2.

hi julianfox94,
12 bands in common, thats nearly 50% of your chart: Seems our tast is pretty similar - so why such a poor rating for my chart?

Only very cool picks.
But it`s getting harder if you expand it to 100.

Excellent choices. A few of these albums are fringe picks for my top 100. (Like Somgs of Leonard Cohen, Spiderland, Remain In Light) anyway, I recently added Mingus. Unbelievable musician.

I saw you have Trout Mask Replica at number 1... Nice. Have you heard Beefheart's debut "Safe As Milk"? Or "Swordfishtrombone" and "Rain Dogs" by Tom Waits? And my last suggestion is the band US Maple. Their debut and their sound is soo soooo influenced by Beefheart.

And my last last suggestion is getting into Howlin Wolf, and definitely definitely the great Tommy Johnson! Tommy Johnson was an old old delta blues singer who had an amazing voice, haunting as hell.

Your choices are cool. Dislike your number 1, but at the same time I like it...

Anyway, what you have here is nice. I'd like more choices for recs.

You've closed me to check out Fahey and "Rock Bottom" finally.
