Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. A good indie rock selection, but it's too new. Try to look for some old indie bands.
I've been through that indie rock phase as a adolescent a great time if my life. Enjoy your cool music tastes I'll add to my faves always looking for new music new & old

Great chart! Excellent variety of music and very original, and some descriptions are pretty good. However, this is mainly from the 2000 until now, and you ought to know that is many fantastic and mind blowing albums in the 60' and the 70', among other decades. I am not saying that the albums you included are bad, in fact, there are some that are totally incredible, really nice. This is only a comment, of course. Also, i really like the predomination of Sufjan Stevens, as it makes your chart really attractive. So, overall nice chart!

i agree with a lot of this... but i find your comments, especially on the top ones, kind of disappointing i guess. Some really sick choices nonetheless. but where's Bon Iver, Bon Iver!
