Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Handpora

I have very diverse music taste, don't lynch me if I like/dislike something you have a different opinion about pls. This is all just my opinion and the albums I like the most, not the albums I think are the absolute best, so no OK Computer.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.7/100, a mean average of 85.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.7.

Great variety! I love that you don’t just go for the obvious choices and let your taste speak for itself

Thoughtful chart - loving your love for Australian albums in your top 100. We only have 2 albums in common - Jagged Little Pill & Gracelands - but isn't that the absolute joy of individual taste.

I just realized it would be a cool idea to like respond to all the comments by commenting myself cause I like responding to feedback despite some of it being over a year old I'm gonna respond to y'all.

@bobbyb5 I also have Parellel Lines on this chart, but yeah their first album is really good as well and Blondie is one of my favourite bands. Sick Puppies used to dominate the top of this chart cause they were my favourite band for a long time. Now idk if I even have a favourite because I've listened to an absurd amount of music since then so it's a lot more muddled, but I still absolutely love them and think they're a fantastic band if you like alt rock.

@LedZep my response is the smiling emoji with the closed eyes but i dont have a way to post that here rn and idk if it would even work if i did so here's my text reading thats what it would be ok thx ily

@raadfactoryxny yeah i on and off do descriptions for albums but most of the time don't have them, I feel like eventually I will do a revamp of the list and add some descriptions but usually when I only add a few, I end up disliking them and/or changing my opinions and deleting them, I'm a messy person so it makes sense that's how it goes lol

@junodog4 idk what my taste even is, just music I like I guess, but I appreciate respecting my weird taste lol thank you

@tk421ucopy i took the too much ye thing to heart and kinda took out the kanye albums i thought weren't as important to be on this chart and kept the ones i felt really needed to be in there. i managed to find a good balance of yes this is still my fav albums of all time, but also there's not literally every kanye album on it lol, about the pop albums, I think pop as a genre deserves way more respect than it gets. Idk what the albums you think are out of place, but like Emotion, Bloom, Artangels, etc. are all albums I absolutely adore and I think do deserve more respect. Obviously they already do get a ton of respect in their respective niches, but I mean from like the masses.

@Peppa You're right, I love the 60s and should prob listen to more from it, I just haven't been in a very 60's mood recently and what I listen to depends on that heavily. Maybe eventually I'll go through and listen to some good 60's albums it's just hard finding albums from that decade in the genres I frequent for the most part

@HeavyChair Yes that is exactly how I feel about OK Computer for the most part. I actually do really like the album, Kid A is the one that doesn't do a whole lot for me, but I still respect both albums a great deal. I love the Ye love as well, great album hell yeah. But yeah I feel like that's how most people feel about my music taste as a whole. There are some things they just don't really get at all, but also some things they really resonate with and love and it makes it pretty easy for me to bond with people over music because of that. I have like a friend who only listens to alternative R&B, one that only listens to metal, one that only listens to hip hop, etc. and I can bond with all of them over those overlapping artists and I love that. I also love that you can respect the things you like less and I appreciate the kind words.

Okay thank you all for your ratings and comments I love you all I just felt like doing this cause I like talking about music and my opinions <3

way too much Ye............... Some of the other pop choices seem a bit out of place. I mean, I'll enjoy them from time to time, but eh.

The descriptions are a little too undetailed and messy for me, but it's fine. Yeezy's the man!

This may be the most random thing I've seen on BEA and I love it. And yes, no OK Computer :)

I got excited to see Blondie's first album instead of the usual Parallel Lines that you always see around here. That one and Plastic Letters are the best. I guess I gotta find out who Sick puppies are, huh? Ha ha
