"Sunflower" sounds completely fresh overflowing with hooks and harmonies. The songs are sweet, crisp, warm, melodic, and fun. It's a real group effort; an upbeat cohesive album with each member having their moment in the spotlight. Dennis Wilson particularly shines demonstrating some impressive songwriting. The band sound very naturally and confident. A truly delightful album. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2012]

Cheap Trick's debut album is has the raw aesthetic of a live performance. Unassailable bedrock rhythm section, crunchy guitars, and astonishing vocals pull together for an explosive fusion of unorthodox subjects wrapped in blissful melodic hooks. Touching upon such disturbing topics as pedophilia, serial killers, suicide, youth-culture cynicism and gigolos. Great compositions and electric performances, mingled with a dark undercurrent help create this highly underrated album. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2012]

Berstein's exuberance is a perfect match for Gershwin's music. "Rhapsody" will take you away, from opening bluesy note and seduces you with all it's jazzy brilliance. It's lively, flashy, bluesy, and intensely enchanting piece of music. This rendition of "Rhapsody in Blue" is unsurpassed, chimerical, even whimsical at times. "An American In Paris" is a vital, moving performance, presented with wonderfully spontaneous energy.
Enduring Music, Amazing Performance.

"Heaven Tonight" is Cheap Trick's 3rd album.
"Surrender" kicks off with four minutes of nonstop hooks and ironic lyrics. This is followed by a great arena-ready punch that just keep coming, summing up the strengths of their first two albums. From the onslaught this is a series of superbly crafted and cleverly arranged songs."Heaven Tonight" has abundance of gorgeous harmonies, zealous melodies, two-fisted riffs and heavy metal chords for any rock fan.

"In Color" was Cheap Trick's sophomore release. Produced by Tom Werman, who stripped away their raw attack and replace it with a polished , poppy,radio-friendly sound,(in contrast to the first album). "In Color" contains the studio version of "I Want You To Want Me," which would go on to become one of their biggest hits a few years later when it was released on "At Budakon". Hip-shaking, guitar-driven, harmony-coated super-songs make for a rockin' good time. A fantastic record with splendidly crafted songs. Lots of fun. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2012]

When it came out in '79 I played this album to death. There's not a song here I don't love.
Produced by Jimmy Iovine "Damn the Torpedoes" has a clean production sound. Every song on the album is great. It's has this Dylan meets the Stones meets the Byrds vibe. It's raw yet sunny. With such classics as 'Refugee', 'Even the Losers', 'Here Comes My Girl', 'Don't Do Me Like That', 'Century City', and 'What are You doin in My Life'... "Damn the Torpedoes" is an excellent album.

This is CCR at it's very best.
Even if they weren't from any place near Louisiana they captured the flavor of life on the bayou, pumping out swampy blackwater rock'n'roll.
There is no fillers here.

Standout tracks: "Travelin' Band", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Run Through the Jungle", "Up Around the Bend", "Who'll Stop the Rain" and the 11 minutes version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" .

Despite being from the San Francisco Bay Area , they became Southern rock stylists, singing about Lower Mississippi Valley as if they lived there all their lives.
"Cosmo's Factory" is filled with marshy rockers, soulful laid-back groove, and intense jams.

Really great chart! Pretty hard to disagree with the likes of London Calling and Damn the Torpedoes. I need convincing when it comes to Kiss and Cheap Trick, but those little differences of opinion are what makes the site great.

Perfect summary of the decade. Punk, Metal, Hard-rock, Pop, Soul and anything else the 70's was about.

Great chart, some excellent choices. What do you think about The Beach Boys' "Holland" and "Love You"?

Love the Bernstein inclusion! Can't say I care for the Scorpions. Good list nonetheless.
