Katie Dey got a little missed next to a lot of other Gecs-ish releases this year, and it sorta fits the sound - this is notably more reserved, quieter, it almost feels a little shy next to something like Black Dresses. And yet, it's all the more engrossing for its more reserved moments. I do think there's a bit of an over-reliance on very similar sounding synth string presets, but that's just kind of an attempt to nitpick an album I really enjoyed. Dey is able to write those sad bops that have really defined my year, working a lot of complex emotions into earworms that haven't left me in the months since its release.

Really don't get the hype. Their worst album to date, easily. Synths range from distractingly bad to cheesy at best, and this thing sounds so overproduced it's like listening to Currents via tin-can being fed in from your neighbor's house.
