Top 50 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 82.9/100, a mean average of 76.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 18.3.

Nice! I would recommend you check out The Microphones/Mount Eerie (essentially the same band), specifically The Glow Part 2. Also try Slint's "Spiderland". It's like the grandad of math rock. It takes a while to get used to but is really quite exceptional
i really like your new chart. is this it ? n°1 ... magnificent !!!!
Great list! I do miss the V.U. in your list. You don't like them (enough)? Great picks (Neon Golden, Pink Moon, S.F. Sorrow and more) and a very understandable number one.
Very interesting list. It intrigues me how you have so much recent music, and hardly any seventies stuff, but you still wub the sixties. I think that's pro :p
good chart !
Interesting.
