Top 100 Music Albums of the 2000s

I did a lot of driving during this decade and it turns out I'm most pleased with this of all my decade lists. I've said I don't think this was a great decade for music compared to the '90's and the '70's but that's just a broad perception. And when I look at some of the great albums here that is patently innaccurate. I'm still editing this (of course) and still finding the odd album that deserves a spot here... always a tossup to me whether a decade chart should reflect what I think now... or what I actually listened to in that decade?

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I really appreciate your comment about the misperception that the 2000s were a weak decade for music. I think sometimes people just get stuck in a particular genre, or a particular era, of music and never find a way out. From your list I particularly love Funeral (I know everyone does, but it's for good reason), Illinois (a terrific #1 selection for the decade), Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (just saw Wilco live last month and love them more than ever), and Boxer, among many of your other selections. Solid representation of your native Canada, too!
