"Its basically just a silly experimental parody of pop music...but underneath that there is something weirdly sad and moving about the resident's music. Like one moment their are funny squonking noises or something, but then we get some pretty minor key piano playing, or that funny but kinda sad c..."  [+]  Reply

"As a teenager this vinyl saw a lot of spins and having recently given it a good clean I am pleased that it plays as well as ever. I don't think I would describe any of the tracks as weak. Joan Crawford and Burnin for You are my favourite tracks."  Reply

United Kingdom XTC
"This is my favourite XTC album. The band further expands the colourful, psychedelic sound of Oranges & Lemons, but the compositions are more harmonious and in many cases more sensitive than on the previous album."  Reply

"Despite its incompletion, 'Sketches of My Sweetheart the Drunk' is a very worthy follow-up to 'Grace'. It's bold, daring, and yet somehow, still maintains that wonderful, beautiful quality that was always a constant throughout his music. Tim, his father, would've been very proud."  Reply

"Listening to this again and it just gets better every time. The whole album is driven by Staley's voice, which I really enjoy, so if you're not a fan you might be left cold. But it's a very driving album that rivals anything Alice in Chains (and Pearl Jam, for that matter) ever did. River of Dece..."  [+]  Reply

"One of my favourite albums of all time. This 19 song epic has grown better with time, it is now considered their best (Steve McQueen a close 2nd). The stand out tracks being Lookin For Atlantis, We Let The Stars Go, Wild Hoses, Doo Wop In Harlem & Carnival 2000. Hear how Paddy McAloon's lyrics/so..."  [+]  Reply

"I've put off listening to 'Guts' for a while, purely just because of how much an album like this inevitably gets overhyped by the media, and by friends raving on about how I should listen to it. Once the dust has settled, I like to try and form my own opinion... and it's pretty much as I expected..."  [+]  Reply
