Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 82.4/100, a mean average of 80.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.9.

Great to see Public Enemy in there. That's my favourite hip hop album of all time!

For someone who has been listening to music as long as I have this list is a bit predictable. I am pretty most of these albums are in the Rolling Stone top 50 of all time.

thanks, your chart has some picks that i like a lot (The Velvet Underground And Nico, Electric Ladyland, In Utero, Public Enemy, Horses and Remain in Light)and of course i heard most of your picks but i have to do the same complain about your chart (too old). but i understand that policy to name only albums that have proven their greatness with time. i'm just not into that policy, when i feel that an album is great and that i love it very much i don't need any time to realize that (but the opposite is not true, some albums that i used not really like, had became absolute vital albums, best example is The Queen Is Dead), but of course my chart is continually changing with more listening and new discoveries (old and new stuff) . and about the other objection, you've already answered: 5 beatles albums !. i think that this is the classic generation clash: 00s/90s Vs 60s/70s and Radiohead Vs The Beatles.... but at least we have one album in common: The Sex Pistols. but i'll check the albums that i haven't heard yet from your chart (Forever Changes, In A Silent Way, Another Green World...etc)
