Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Mr. Shankly
2/24/22 Update: I added three albums that have been huge for me recently as I've gotten into more ambient, dreamy stuff.- Brian Eno- Another Green World and Slowdive- Souvlaki. I dropped The Shepherd's Dog- Iron and Wine, Otis Redding- Blue. Possible future inclusions: In a Silent Way- Miles Davis, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Can- Future Days. Some contemporary bans I'm into include Parquet Courts and Beachhouse. I've also been diving into Nick Cave and Neil Youngs' catalogs more. One of those bands/ artists might crack my top 100 one day too. Who knows? Take care, fellow music nerds!

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.3/100, a mean average of 84.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.3.

Great chart! If you're feeling sinister is an underrated pop masterpiece.
Fascinating chart, lots of albums I like
You evidently know your stuff.
Very cool choices. Obviously I need to check out Nick Drake and some other personal lapses listed here.
ssvnnn, Thanks for stopping by. I lived in Korea for two years and worked as a teacher there, so at that time, I chose Korea as my place of residence. I'm actually American. As for Korean music, I gotta tell you, I wasn't too impressed most of the time with what I heard. With few exceptions, mainstream Korean music (K-pop mostly) is terrible to my ears. Drunken Tiger is one exception though. I did see a couple of good indie bands in small clubs when I was there and would occasionally see an interesting band on TV, but Korea is so corporate-dominated and single-minded, most of those bands will sadly never have any chance of success. It's just not a place that rewards experimentation, innovation and originality. If you're Korean, you know very well that "the nail that sticks up is the one that gets hammered down." That's why most of the music is so homogenized and uninteresting. Sorry to be so blunt.
If You are really korean, why don´t you add any korean Music?
There might be something interesting for the rest of the world...
Nice Picks
Top-shelf selections. I would be interested in seeing your favourite 2010s albums list.
After hearing Quadrophenia I had to update and upgrade the rating I gave this chart previously.
