Every song is outstanding. 'Range Life' and 'Fillmore Jive' are probably best. 'Range Life' was alt country before alt country was really a thing. Leave it to Pavement to dis other bands (Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots) in one of their best songs. Very hip hop of them to record a beef for posterity. Years later and I'm still discovering new things with each listen. One day, this could pass The Soft Bulletin to become my favorite Lips album. [First added to this chart: 12/20/2014]

This album reminds me of the turn of the millennium and early aughts in San Francisco/Oakland...seemed to be on constant play among friends back then. Still an outstanding and relevant album with my favorites being 'Three-Dee Melodie', 'Wow and Flutter', 'Ping Pong' and 'Nihilist Assault Group'. Yes, they have a song called 'Nihilist Assault Group' that was released 4-years before The Big Lebowski...totally ahead of their time. [First added to this chart: 08/15/2015]

This is the final album in Pavement’s incredible five-in-a-row LP run from 1992’s Slanted and Enchanted through 1999’s Terror Twilight. All five albums are in my top 100, but this one seems to have the most upwards momentum. After 20-years, it still gets better with each listen. While 'Spit on a Stranger', 'Major League', 'The Hexx', '…and Carrot Rope' were immediately likable, others like 'Folk Jam', 'Platform Blues', 'Ann Don’t Cry', 'Billie', and 'See, Speak, Remember' have also become favorites. Basically, I love all of it. '…And Carrot Rope' is one of my favorite songs of the 90s. [First added to this chart: 12/25/2015]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.9/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.3.

Splendid chart. Genesis reigns supreme. The Lamb is a formidable work. I also love screaming along to "It". One of the greatest songs of all time. They always knew how to end an album right (The Knife, Fountain of Salmacis, Los Endos, etc.).

Probably the chart I identify the strongest with, at least when it comes to the top 20. I've also been noticing Lamb on a lot of peoples lists lately, it's certainly an album that requires multiple listens to get and it gets better every time. I think Supper's Ready is still their best song, but Lamb is their best album overall. You got some crazy stuff out of left field too I wasn't expecting, so I better check some of it out! I've seen the Flaming Lips live yet I haven't cared much for their actual music.....I know, it's weird. I'm gonna keep trying though.

Interesting chart, with interesting choices, though I think its better to introduce more bands. Your descriptions show how much effort you put in your chart.

Very good chart, very good music.
My only criticism: I´d like to have more different artists and not too many albums of the same artists.
congratulations anyway.

Sure there might be a few albums here that aren't really my thing but I am really impressed with the effort you have gone into with your notes!! Some jazz and electronic albums sneaking in would up this to a perfect score from me!

Nice to see something by Joni Mitchell besides fuckin Blue. And Mars Audiac is indeed Stereolab best album.
