Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Excellent chart. The albums I don't know I will investigate, because most of the ones I do know are very good.

Nothing to dislike here, fantastic #1 and the rest of the chart. But man, I wish I knew more bands that are here!

It's great to see another person who enjoys Deafheaven's Sunbather. It's such an underappreciated album here on BEA.
Perhaps you overestimate Fever Ray, but I like the inclusion of her album, awesome comment for the downward spiral.

Lovely list! I think I owe you about 15 recs lol.
Also a great guide for prog stuffs... what about a custom prog list to get it accurately?
